Summary
The Safety and Risk Management Specialist is responsible for ensuring a safe work environment inspecting facilities, investigating incidents, and developing comprehensive safety programs. This role will collaborate with management and employees to promote safety awareness, provide training, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. The role also includes managing workers' compensation claims and maintaining accurate safety records.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspects work areas regularly to identify hazards, risks, and ensure safety compliance.
- Investigates accidents, incidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and recommending solutions.
- Provides safety training for new hires and employees on equipment use and safe practices.
- Develops and implements safety programs to improve performance and reduce risks.
- Collaborates with management and employees to promote safety awareness and compliance.
- Communicates findings from inspections and investigations to all relevant parties.
- Prepares and presents detailed reports on safety inspections and investigations to upper management.
- Responds to workplace accidents and emergencies, ensuring appropriate procedures are followed.
- Processes and reviews workers' compensation claims, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
- Assists departments in investigating accident reports and authorizing necessary medical treatments.
- Maintains accurate records of safety incidents and workers' compensation cases.
- Serves as the primary contact for safety-related inquiries and provides clear information on safety policies and procedures.
- Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in safety training, risk management, and claims processing.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, insurance policies, and legal aspects of claims.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools for safety management and claims processing.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness.
Preferred Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Management, Business Administration.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), OSHA or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish
