Job summary

The American States Water Company is seeking a Safety Program Administrator to lead the development and implementation of safety and health training programs within the Environmental Health and Safety Department at our Maryland operations. You will assess work environments, design programs to prevent disease or injury, train employees on hazards, and stay current with OSHA and other regulations.

Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, with the ability to work independently

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
• OSHA Construction 10/30 Hour qualification or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Five years experience as a safety professional with increasing responsibilities.
• Membership in professional organization desirable.
• Certified Safety Professional designation desirable.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitors federal, state and local health and safety regulations affecting the company.
• Conducts surveys and inspections to identify hazards and prevent accidents.
• Interprets and recommends actions to comply with laws and regulations.
• Provides training on regulations, policies, practices or hazard recognition.
• Leads or participates in accident/incident investigations.
• Develops health and safety programs to prevent hazardous conditions and promote safety culture.
• Supports field operations and coordinates emergency preparedness activities.
