Job summary

Ascending Eagle is seeking a Safety & Compliance Manager to oversee all safety, regulatory compliance, and risk management across our national trucking operations. You will ensure FMCSA/DOT compliance and promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of trucking safety or transportation compliance experience.
• Strong knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations.
• Experience managing driver compliance and fleet safety programs.
• Familiarity with ELD systems, telematics, and safety monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

• Ensure FMCSA, DOT, and state regulations compliance and maintain required records.
• Oversee driver qualification files and CDL verification.
• Monitor Hours of Service (HOS) compliance and review ELD logs.
• Investigate accidents and perform root cause analysis for corrective actions.
• Manage the DOT drug and alcohol testing program and related records.
• Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and incentive programs.
• Provide regular safety performance reports to leadership and identify trends.

Ascending Eagle is seeking a Safety & Compliance Manager to lead and oversee all safety, regulatory compliance, and risk management initiatives across our national trucking operations. This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations while promoting a strong safety culture across the organization.

The Safety & Compliance Manager will work closely with dispatch, operations, and drivers to maintain the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure company compliance with FMCSA, DOT, and state transportation regulations
• Maintain all required regulatory documentation and records
• Prepare the company for DOT audits, inspections, and safety reviews
• Monitor and manage CSA scores and violation trends
• Oversee driver qualification and compliance requirements
• Oversee and audit flatbed cargo securement protocols to ensure 100% compliance with FMCSA cargo securement standards.

Driver Safety & Training

• Manage and maintain Driver Qualification (DQ) files
• Verify driver CDL licenses, medical certificates, and endorsements
• Conduct regular driver safety training and safety meetings
• Develop and implement driver coaching and safety improvement programs
• Investigate and address driver violations or unsafe driving behaviors

Hours of Service & ELD Monitoring

• Monitor driver Hours of Service (HOS) compliance
• Review ELD logs and investigate violations
• Implement corrective actions and driver coaching when necessary

Accident & Incident Management

• Investigate all accidents and safety incidents
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
• Maintain the company DOT accident register
• Coordinate with insurance providers on accident claims

Fleet Safety & Maintenance Compliance

• Ensure compliance with vehicle inspection and maintenance requirements
• Monitor DVIR reporting and corrective actions
• Track preventive maintenance schedules and DOT annual inspections

Drug & Alcohol Compliance

• Manage the company’s DOT drug and alcohol testing program
• Coordinate pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion testing
• Maintain compliance with the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse

Safety Program Development

• Develop and maintain company safety policies and procedures
• Implement safety incentive programs
• Promote a culture of safety throughout the organization

Reporting & Data Analysis

• Monitor key safety metrics including:
• CSA scores
• accident frequency
• driver violations
• inspection results
• Provide regular safety performance reports to leadership
• Identify trends and recommend operational improvements

Qualifications

Required

• 3+ years of experience in trucking safety or transportation compliance
• Strong knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations
• Experience managing driver compliance and fleet safety programs
• Familiarity with ELD systems, telematics, and safety monitoring tools
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

Preferred

• Experience with fleets of 50+ trucks
• Knowledge of CSA scoring and DOT audit preparation
• Background in flatbed or construction materials transportation
