Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a Safety Companion to provide continuous, attentive observation and assist with light patient care tasks, ensuring patient safety and comfort in an on-site setting.

The role involves documenting patient information, interacting with the care team, and supporting patients of all ages. CPR-BLS certification within 90 days is required, with preference for strong interpersonal and Microsoft Office skills.

Qualifications

• Licensure/ Certification: CPR - BLS (within 90 days of onboarding)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous observation of assigned patients to ensure safety.
• Assist with activities of daily living such as repositioning, bathing, feeding and ambulation as needed.
• Document relevant information in the patient record.
• Communicate effectively with the care team to promote high-quality, seamless care.

Expected pay for this position is $17.66 - $19.63/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Safety Companion provides continuous, attentive observation of assigned patients to maintain their safety. This role performs light patient care tasks, which may include repositioning, ambulation assistance, bathing, feeding, and other activities of daily living. The Safety Companion documents relevant information in the patient record and communicates effectively with the care team to promote seamless, high-quality care. Responsibilities may vary based on departmental needs and the specific support required for patients of all age groups, contributing to each patient’s comfort and well-being.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Licensure/ Certification: CPR - BLS (within 90 days of onboarding)
