Job summary

KB Signaling seeks a Safety Assurance Lead to strengthen our safety program across multiple projects in North America. The role reports to the Safety Manager and focuses on developing and improving safety during program and project development.

You will define safety plans, perform analyses, support tenders, and lead safety engineers while collaborating with engineering teams to deliver safe, compliant rail signaling solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant Engineering (System, Electrical, Electro-mechanical, Software).
• 5 years of experience in safety assurance or safety-critical applications.
• Knows and understands AREMA, CENELEC safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform Safety Assurance activities on project/product development.
• Support tenders by providing Safety Estimates.
• Define the Safety Plan, including safety workload, and planning for the project/product development.
• Perform Safety Analysis.
• Apply safety assurance methodologies defined for the project/product development to meet Safety Targets.
• Manage the Hazard Log through closure.
• Support V&V and TC activities from a Safety perspective.
• Work with Engineering teams to integrate products into projects.
• Build the Safety Reports and/or the Safety Cases.
• Defend the Safety Case in front of external ISA assessors; define and follow-up action plans to close findings.
• Lead (if any) the Safety Assurance Engineers involved on the project / system / product.
• Manage Safety Issues of fielded solutions.

Role Summary

KB Signaling strives for excellence and for this reason we are excited to create the position of Safety Assurance Lead. This is an experienced position that will report directly to the Safety Manager in support of KB Signaling locations. This position will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety during program and/or project development. This is an individual contributor role, reporting to the Safety Manager.

Responsibilities

• Perform the Safety Assurance activities on project/product development in accordance with the Safety process
• Support tenders by providing Safety Estimates
• Define the Safety Plan, including safety workload, and associated planning for the project/product development
• Perform Safety Analysis
• Apply the safety assurance methodologies (risk acceptance criteria, verification and validation) defined for the project/product development to meet the Safety Targets.
• Manage the Hazard Log through closure
• Support V&V and T&C activities from a Safety perspective
• Work with Engineering teams to integrate products into projects
• Build the Safety Reports and/or the Safety Cases
• Defend the Safety Case in front of external (ISA) assessors; define and follow-up action plans to close the findings of the assessors
• Lead (if any) the Safety Assurance Engineers involved on the project / system / product (Internal or external resources)
• Manage Safety Issues of fielded solutions

Qualifications

At this time, we are not able to offer immigration sponsorship for new hires. All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for current or future employment-based visa sponsorship.

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Rochester, NY or Melbourne, FL is $89,900–$134,900 per year. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. KB Signaling is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations.
