Job summary

BGDC Distribution in Salem, VA is seeking an Asset Protection & Safety Manager to lead safety, asset protection, security, and emergency preparedness programs across a high-volume distribution center.

You will supervise Safety Supervisors and on-site or third-party security personnel, partnering with Operations, Quality Control, HR, Maintenance, and Corporate Asset Protection to foster safety, accountability, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Five to eight years of progressive leadership experience in safety, asset protection, or security in a high-volume distribution/ logistics environment.
• Experience leading OSHA compliance programs, incident investigations, and regulatory inspections.
• Strong investigative experience involving workplace incidents, theft, fraud, or loss prevention.

Responsibilities

• Champion a safety-first culture aligned with BGDC Distribution priorities and values.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve site safety, asset protection, and security programs.
• Lead site risk assessments and implement corrective actions.
• Manage physical security: CCTV, access control, alarm systems, keys, and monitoring.
• Oversee asset protection initiatives to minimize theft and losses.
• Lead investigations into injuries, near misses, and security incidents with root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with Operations, HR, Quality Control, and Maintenance to execute corrective actions from audits/inspections.
• Liaise with local law enforcement and regulatory agencies as needed.
• Manage on-site and third-party security personnel, ensuring compliance with policies.
• Participate in OSHA, EPA, customer, insurance, and regulatory inspections; drive corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
• Develop and maintain emergency preparedness and business continuity plans.
• Conduct drills and readiness exercises across shifts to ensure preparedness.
• Promote safety, training, and recognition initiatives to engage associates.
• Manage safety audits and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Develop and track training programs for safety, security, and asset protection.
