Job summary

Pavestone, part of The QUIKRETE® Companies, has an immediate opening for a Safety/Quality Technician at our Montgomery, NY facility. The successful candidate will bring 2–5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with extensive EH&S and/or quality experience.

You will oversee safety and quality programs, train personnel, and collaborate with management to drive continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Requires a college degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety or equivalent experience.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
• Excellent leadership, collaboration and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Clear oral and written communication abilities; bilingual a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint; able to use PPE as required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and improve Pavestone’s Safety and Health program.
• Conduct new-employee safety training and ongoing task-specific safety training.
• Participate in plant safety committee and incident investigations.
• Maintain quality control documentation and train staff on specifications.
• Ensure lab equipment is properly maintained and samples are retained per PQP.
• Collaborate with Plant/General Manager on environmental compliance.

Responsibilities

Quality

• Ensures that all quality control requirements are fulfilled with the frequency as specified in the Pavestone PQP manual.
• Ensures that all logs and files related to the quality control function are legible, well -organized, and properly maintained.
• Evaluates quality data, regarding both finished product and raw materials, communicating trends to the Plant /General Manager, the Regional Quality Control Manager. Investigates causes and takes corrective action.
• Trains personnel for appropriate action when specifications are not being met.
• Supervise quality control activity by other staff.
• Maintains laboratory equipment in proper working order and ensured that laboratory conditions are within standards.
• Ensures that any non-conforming product is properly identified for a decision on disposition by the Plant/General Manager.
• Ensures that samples are retained as specified in Pavestone PQP Manual, or as instructed.

Safety

• Responsible for oversight, implementation, and continuous improvement of Pavestone’s Safety and Health program
• Performs new employee training and onboarding as it relates to the safety program
• Active in monthly plant trainings as well as task specific safety training
• Works alongside Plant Manager and General Manager on environmental compliance
• Participates in company safety committee
• Conducts incident investigations to determine root cause & corrective actions.
• Performs periodic site assessments
• Serves as a safety “coach” and is a resource for all plant employees

Job Qualifications

• College degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety will accept practical experience in lieu of degree
• Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
• Must have strong leadership and collaboration skillsMust have strong analytical problem-solving skills
• Must have good oral and written communication skills
• Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus but not required
• Strong computer knowledge along with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Must be able to wear all required PPE (Hard hat, safety glasses, safety footwear, and hearing protection)
