Job summary

Generon IGS Group in Houston seeks a hands-on Safety Leader to develop and manage Environmental, Health & Safety programs across facilities. You will work with unit managers, lead risk assessments, audits and incident investigations, and help cultivate a strong safety culture through training and ongoing oversight of PPE, lockout/tagout, and machine safety.

The role requires a BS in Safety or related, 5+ years of facility oversight, and deep knowledge of OSHA regulations, with a practical

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Facilities Management or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Safety Leader with facility oversight.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety practices.
• Strong understanding of machine safety, PPE, and industrial safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS programs.
• Conduct facility inspections, safety audits, risk assessments.
• Identify unsafe conditions and implement corrective actions.
• Lead incident investigations and develop corrective actions.
• Maintain OSHA logs, safety records, and training documentation.

Generon IGS Group is a diversified manufacturing group with multiple operating businesses. This position will work with various business unit Managers to support overall safety and facilities programs by managing workplace safety & facility /equipment maintenance. The ideal candidate combines strong knowledge of industrial safety with practical facilities and maintenance experience. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in an environment involving metal fabrication, welding, machining, electrical systems, compressed air and gases, cranes/hoists, forklifts, and testing equipment. The position is intended to be a highly visible role where the individual will be hands on working directly with the workforce to cultivate a strong safety culture.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES – Safety Management

• Lead incident, injury, near-miss, and property-damage investigations and develop appropriate corrective actions.
• Maintain OSHA logs, safety records, training documentation, inspections, and other required compliance records.
• Manage safety training, including new-hire orientation, PPE, lockout/tagout, powered industrial trucks / forklifts, overhead cranes, emergency response, machine safety, and other applicable programs.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

• B.S Degree, Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Facilities Management or other related disciplines
• 5 + years of experience as a Safety Leader with facility oversight
• Strong Knowledge OSHA regulations and Industrial safety practices
• Requires strong understanding of machine safety, PPE, and industrial safe practices

Preferred Certifications

• OSHA 30-Hour or equivalent training
• Certified or Associate Safety Professional (CSP / ASP)
