Job summary

Generon IGS Group, a diversified manufacturing group, seeks a hands‑on Safety & Facilities Leader in Houston, TX. You will work with business unit managers to support safety and facilities, cultivating a strong safety culture on the shop floor.

You will develop and oversee Environmental, Health & Safety programs and preventive maintenance across facilities, equipment, and systems, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Requires 5+ years of experience as a Safety Leader with facility oversight.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety practices.
• Understanding of machine safety, PPE, and industrial safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and improve the company's EHS programs.
• Conduct facility inspections, safety audits, job hazard analyses, and risk assessments.
• Identify unsafe conditions and implement corrective actions.
• Lead incident investigations including injuries, near-misses, and property damage.
• Maintain OSHA logs, safety records, training documentation, inspections.

Job Details: Job Location: GENERON 1 - Houston, TX, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: 4 Year Degree, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Job Shift: Day, Generon IGS Group is a diversified manufacturing group with multiple operating businesses. This position will work with various business unit Managers to support overall safety and facilities programs by managing workplace safety & facility /equipment maintenance. The ideal candidate combines strong knowledge of industrial safety with practical facilities and maintenance experience. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in an environment involving metal fabrication, welding, machining, electrical systems, compressed air and gases, cranes/hoists, forklifts, and testing equipment. The position is intended to be a highly visible role where the individual will be hands on working directly with the workforce to cultivate a strong safety culture.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES – Safety Management

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company's Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs.
• Conduct regular facility inspections, safety audits, job hazard analyses, and risk assessments.
• Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Lead incident, injury, near-miss, and property-damage investigations and develop appropriate corrective actions.
• Maintain OSHA logs, safety records, training documentation, inspections, and other required compliance records.
• Manage safety training, including new-hire orientation, PPE, lockout/tagout, powered industrial trucks / forklifts, overhead cranes, emergency response, machine safety, and other applicable programs.
• Structure a company safety committee and create a strong safety awareness culture.
• Evaluate chemical use, storage, labeling, SDS management, waste handling, and environmental risks.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES – Facilities Management

• Establish facility maintenance priorities based on safety, operational requirements, cost, and business impact.
• Create a facility check list and conduct weekly walk around inspections.
• Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs for equipment & facility systems.
• Coordinate repairs and service providers for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, fire protection, roofing, security, and other facility systems when required.
• Implement and oversee a facilities and equipment repair request program
• Maintain facility documentation, equipment records, inspection schedules, and maintenance history.
• Promote and track better housekeeping of work and storage areas.

Qualifications:

• B.S Degree, Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Facilities Management or other related disciplines
• 5 + years of experience as a Safety Leader with facility oversight
• Strong Knowledge OSHA regulations and Industrial safety practices
• Requires strong understanding of machine safety, PPE, and industrial safe practices

Preferred Certifications

• OSHA 30-Hour or equivalent training
• Certified or Associate Safety Professional (CSP / ASP)
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
• First Aid / CPR / AED certification

Preferred Skills & Abilities

• Excellent Communication and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft suite, reporting tools and working with ERP type systems.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write fluent English; bi-lingual in Spanish is beneficial
