Brunel in Spring, TX is seeking a Safety Advisor II to support contractor safety management, field operations, and process improvements in upstream oil & gas environments. The role bridges gaps in field safety expertise and serves as a key resource for contractor oversight and training.

Reporting to the Safety Leadership Team, you will collaborate across business units to align safety processes, lead kickoff meetings, deliver training, and ensure compliance with OSHA and API standards.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Health & Safety experience in Oil & Gas operations.
  • ASP and/or CSP certification.
  • Strong field-based experience in upstream production or related environments.
  • Deep understanding of OSHA regulations, API standards, and industry safety best practices.
  • Experience supporting contractor management and contractor performance programs.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work across multiple business groups to align safety expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure contractor activities are planned and executed across the full contract lifecycle.
  • Participate in contractor evaluation and selection.
  • Drive closure of contractor performance improvement plans.
  • Address resource and performance issues impacting contractor effectiveness.
  • Sign off on pre-mobilization checklists.
  • Lead contractor kickoff meetings.
  • Lead or participate in high-risk contractor engagement meetings.
  • Collaborate with contractors to address performance and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide contractor performance feedback for scorecards and evaluations.
  • Meet with Contract Administrators to review contractor performance.
  • Prepare and facilitate recurring contractor engagement meetings.
  • Escalate safety concerns promptly.
  • Verify contract requirements are implemented.
  • Build relationships with contractor representatives.
  • Deliver safety training and support safety initiatives.
  • Support standardized contractor management processes across units.
  • Mentor less experienced safety professionals.

Position Overview

Seeking a Safety Advisor II to support contractor safety management, field operations, and process improvement initiatives. This role will help bridge gaps in field safety expertise within the team and serve as a key resource for contractor oversight, training, performance management, and alignment of safety processes across multiple business units.

This position reports to the Safety Leadership Team and requires strong knowledge of OSHA requirements, API standards, industry best practices, and field operations within upstream oil & gas environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify contractor interface activities are properly planned and executed throughout the full contract lifecycle.
  • Participate in contractor evaluation and selection activities.
  • Monitor and drive closure of contractor performance improvement plans.
  • Address resource and performance issues that may impact contractor effectiveness.
  • Sign off on pre-mobilization checklists before work begins.
  • Lead contractor kickoff meetings.
  • Lead and/or participate in periodic engagement meetings with high-risk contractors.
  • Work directly with contractors to address performance concerns and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide contractor performance feedback for scorecard and evaluation processes.
  • Meet regularly with Contract Administrators to review contractor performance.
  • Prepare and facilitate recurring contractor engagement meetings.
  • Ensure timely escalation of contractor performance or compliance concerns.
  • Verify implementation and adherence to contract requirements, terms, and conditions.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with contractor representatives.
  • Deliver safety training and support safety initiatives across multiple locations.
  • Support development and implementation of standardized contractor management and safety processes across business units.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced safety professionals as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of Health & Safety experience in Oil & Gas operations.
  • ASP (Associate Safety Professional) and/or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification.
  • Strong field-based experience supporting upstream production, well servicing, or related operational environments.
  • Deep understanding of OSHA regulations, API standards, and industry safety best practices.
  • Experience supporting contractor management and contractor performance programs.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple business groups to achieve alignment on safety expectations and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience supporting a major oil and gas operator is considered an advantage.
  • Experience mentoring and developing safety personnel.
  • Experience creating and implementing global or multi-site safety processes.
