Job summary

Suffolk Transportation Service, Inc. Coram, NY is seeking a School Bus Driver to safely operate a school bus on an assigned schedule, perform inspections, and ensure student safety.

The role includes safe pickup/drop-off, maintaining order aboard the bus, and compliance with laws and company policies. CDL training is available for qualified candidates, with benefits including medical, PTO, 401(k), and life insurance.

Qualifications

• Must pass pre-employment physical including DOT medical card and DOT drug screening.
• Must be at least 23 years of age.
• Availability to work varying shifts; assignments based on seniority.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure safe operation.
• Operate the school bus safely and efficiently to minimize risk.
• Comply with all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Maintain a clean, organized bus and proper parking of the vehicle.
• Report maintenance or repair needs promptly to supervisor/dispatch.
• Transport students according to routes and schedules; take attendance and enforce passenger rules.
• Assist passengers with disabilities during boarding, riding, and exiting and operate wheelchair lifts.
• Communicate with dispatch via two-way radio and report issues as needed.
• Respond to changing conditions such as weather or route adjustments.
• Attend safety trainings and meetings as required.
