Job summary

California CASA Association is seeking a Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs to lead statewide advocacy and public policy initiatives. The role partners with the CEO and CPO to set the legislative agenda, coordinates with contract lobbyists, legislators, and state agencies, and shapes CA CASA’s strategic policy direction.

The DPLA will translate field experience and data into actionable legislative strategies, secure public investment, and strengthen partnerships across the statewide CASA

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Law, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in public policy, legislative affairs, or government relations.
• California state policy/advocacy experience required.
• Willingness to travel regularly throughout CA, especially Sacramento.

Responsibilities

• Strategic advisor to the CEO on legislative and public policy matters affecting CA CASA and its statewide network.
• Lead day-to-day government affairs functions and coordinate annual legislative agenda and budget advocacy.
• Develop and maintain the statewide policy research initiatives and policy briefs.
• Represent CA CASA in statewide policy coalitions and strategic partnerships as assigned.
• Collaborate across departments to align advocacy, research, communications, philanthropy, and programs.
