Job summary

YMCA of Montclair is seeking a SACC Site Director for a regular part-time role in Montclair, NJ. You will plan, supervise, and manage a developing childcare program at one site while ensuring health and safety for all children.

You will lead staff, manage schedules and inventories, and maintain positive parent relationships. A supervisory background in SACC and a related degree, plus CPR/First Aid, are required or obtainable within 90 days.

Qualifications

• BA in Education, Child Development, Physical Education, Recreation or related field
• SACC credential and three years direct experience with children under age 13, including supervisory experience
• Two years of college with 18 credits in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation or related field and supervisory experience
• Excellent human relations and communication skills
• Must have strong organizational skills
• Demonstrate a positive and constructive attitude
• Demonstrate knowledge of child growth and development and good teaching practices
• Commitment to YMCA mission and core values (Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility)
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certification or achieve within 90 days

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and supervise a developmentally appropriate, fun, and enriching activity curriculum for camp groups
• Maintain positive relationships with parents and communicate effectively
• Maintain clean, neat, and organized environment
• Promote and supervise health, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of each child
• Create a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for all participants
• Manage the performance of staff and collaborate with the Extended Care Program Director
• Manage inventory of equipment and supplies
• Attend Abuse Risk Management training and follow related procedures
• Screen employees and volunteers for abuse risk and provide ongoing supervision
• Provide staff with feedback on boundaries and policy adherence
• Respond to policy violations using disciplinary procedures
• Communicate YMCA commitment to protecting members from abuse
• Work collaboratively with other staff as a team
• Attend all staff meetings
• Follow YMCA policies and staff manual
• Maintain required records and logs
• Director to hold monthly meetings with staff
• Other duties as assigned
