Job summary

The YMCA of Montclair is seeking a SACC Site Director for our Montclair, NJ program. This regular part-time role oversees planning, managing, and supervising a developmentally appropriate childcare program at one site, ensuring health and safety of all children.

You will lead extended care activities, coordinate events, and supervise staff under the guidance of the SACC Director. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, along with a commitment to YMCA values and safety

Qualifications

• BA in Education, Child Development, or related field with supervisory experience.
• SACC credential with 3+ years direct experience and supervisory role.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certification; or certification within 90 days of employment.

• Maintain positive relationships with parents and foster healthy communication.
• Maintain a clean, organized environment aligned with YMCA standards.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the SACC (School Age Childcare) Director, the SACC Site Director is responsible for planning, managing, and supervising a developmentally appropriate childcare program at one site. The SACC Site Director will manage all extended care activities and special events, as well as always ensuring the health and safety of all children at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Plan, implement and supervise a developmentally appropriate, fun, and enriching activity curriculum for camp groups throughout the summer.
• Maintain positive relationships with parents and demonstrate positive communication skills that will foster a healthy and comfortable atmosphere.
• Maintain clean, neat, and organized environment acceptable to the YMCA Extended Care Program Director.
• Promote and supervise the health, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of each child.
• Create and maintain a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for all program participants.
• Manage the performance of all staff along with the Extended Care Program Director.
• Manage and control inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Attend required Abuse Risk Management training and adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising members and participants.
• Follow employee and volunteer screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk. Provide employees and volunteers with on-going supervision and training related to abuse risk.
• Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with consumers and require them to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk.
• Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the Y’s disciplinary procedures and respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and follow mandated reporting requirements.
• Communicates to all employees and volunteers the Y’s commitment to protect our members from abuse.
• Work with all other staff members in a cooperative effort-TEAMWORK.
• Attending all staff meetings.
• Follow personnel policies of the YMCA of Montclair and policies defined in the staff manual.
• Maintain all required records and logs.
• Directors are responsible for having monthly meetings with their staff
• All other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BA in Education, Child Development, Physical Education, Recreation or related field and two years direct experience with children under age 13, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity OR
• School Age Childcare credential and three years direct experience with children under age 13, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity OR
• Two years of college with 18 credits in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation or related field and three years direct experience with children under age 13, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity.

• Demonstrate a positive and constructive attitude.
• Demonstrate verbally and by role modeling a sound knowledge of good teaching practices and of child growth and development.
• Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of the YMCA and its capacity to develop youth. The ability to articulate and model the YMCA’s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility are essential.
• Must have a CPR/AED and First Aid Certification OR get certified within 90 days of employment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This work requires the following physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity. He/she must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. The work is performed both indoors and outdoors and may require occasional travel to the various sites of the YMCA of Montclair.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday: - 2:30PM-6:00PM

LOCATION: This position supports our School Age Child Care (SACC) programs at multiple sites across Montclair, Verona, and Bloomfield, New Jersey.
