Job summary

American Innovations, headquartered in Austin, TX, is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to strengthen the finance function. Based in Austin with a hybrid schedule (3 days in the office), you will oversee monthly close, financial reporting, and audits, ensuring accuracy and GAAP compliance.

You will lead SaaS revenue recognition, deferred revenue management, and internal control enhancements, mentoring junior accountants and partnering with the CFO and Controller to support growth.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in SaaS or subscription-based models.
• Experience in growth-stage or rapidly scaling companies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains).
• Experience preparing for audits and producing PBC schedules.
• CPA required; strong GAAP knowledge and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close and deliver audit-ready financials.
• Oversee SaaS revenue recognition and deferred revenue management.
• Lead development of PBC schedules and coordinate with external auditors.
• Maintain the deferred revenue waterfall and rev rec memos.
• Anticipate adjustments and strengthen internal controls.
• Collaborate with Controller and CFO on process improvements.
• Mentor junior accounting staff and support audits.
