Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a team responsible for the S3 Index's request routing systems. The role focuses on architecture, reliability, and scale to support trillions of objects and hundreds of millions of requests per second.

You will partner with senior leaders to set direction, drive the technical roadmap, and mentor engineers while maintaining relentlessly high standards and strong collaboration across S3 teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years working directly within engineering teams.
• 3+ years designing or architecting distributed systems.
• 8+ years leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
• Experience with full software lifecycle, coding standards, reviews, CI/CD and ops.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of software engineers delivering key components of S3's architecture.
• Drive the technical roadmap for S3 Index's request routing.
• Invent ways to optimize data flows and ensure correctness.
• Enable end-to-end data integrity and performance optimizations across systems.
• Protect against unwanted coupling of systems accessing S3 objects.
• Ensure operational excellence via metrics, monitoring and continuous improvement.
