Job summary

Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation is seeking a Short Notice ECE Custodian for Head Start sites across the reservation. This non-exempt, on-call position requires reporting within one hour of notification and performing various janitorial tasks to keep facilities safe and sanitary.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a possible valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain First Aid/CPR and Food Handlers permits within specified days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; janitorial experience preferred.
• May require a valid driver's license.
• Must obtain First Aid/CPR within 30 days of employment.
• Must obtain Food Handlers permit, TB Test, and Health Physical within 10 days.
• Prior janitorial experience and MSDS knowledge preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.
• Strong reading/writing to document work on forms.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with tribal programs and public.

POSITION: Short Notice ECE Custodian

SALARY: $20.34 per DOE

REPORTS TO: ECE Head Start Site Supervisor

LOCATION: Head start, Reservation Wide

Basic Functions: Non-Exempt. Short Notice position is an on-call role, and applicants must be prepared to report to work within one hour of receiving notification. Perform various janitorial duties to ensure a safe and sanitary environment. Keep buildings and playground in clean and orderly condition.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training:

• Requires a High School Diploma or GED. Past janitorial experience preferred.
• May require a valid drivers license.
• Requires the ability to possess, or be able to obtain a First Aid/CPR Certification within thirty (30) days of employment.
• Requires the ability to possess, or be able to obtain a Food Handlers permit, TB Test, and yearly Health Physical within ten (10) days of employment
• Requires working knowledge and experience performing the various janitorial tasks associated with the care and cleaning of buildings is preferred.
• Requires working knowledge of understanding Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) is preferred.
• Requires in-depth knowledge and experience in securing buildings during non-business hours is preferred.
• Requires working knowledge of safe work habits and safety procedures.
• Requires sufficient reading and writing ability to read work instructions and document work activity onto standardized forms.
• Requires sufficient human relations skill to exercise courtesy when dealing with others.
• Requires the ability to show a work history that reflects a better than average attendance record.
• Requires the ability to maintain discretion and STRICT confidentiality with work-related information.
• Requires the ability to work alone and independently in performance of job duties.
• Requires the ability to communicate effectively and to understand and execute oral and written instructions.
• Requires the ability to establish and maintain congenial working relationships with other Tribal programs, outside business associates, and the public.
• Requires the ability to assure that safety, general cleaning, and infection control are observed at all times in adherence to the Federal head Start Policy Guidelines.
• Requires the ability to learn, understand and apply Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
• Requires the ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Requires the ability to work alone and independently in performance of job duties.

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
