Job summary

Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation seeks a Short Notice ECE Custodian to perform janitorial duties ensuring a safe, sanitary environment across Head Start facilities. The on-call role requires reporting within one hour of notification and maintaining cleanliness of buildings and playgrounds.

Responsibilities include following MSDS guidelines, adhering to safety procedures, and maintaining confidentiality while working independently.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or GED. Past janitorial experience preferred.
• May require a valid driver’s license.
• Requires the ability to possess, or be able to obtain a First Aid/CPR Certification within thirty (30) days of employment.
• Requires the ability to possess, or be able to obtain a Food Handler’s permit, TB Test, and yearly Health Physical within ten (10) days of employment

REPORTS TO:ECE Head Start Site Supervisor

LOCATION:Head start, Reservation Wide

Basic Functions

Non-Exempt.Short Notice position is an on-call role, and applicants must be prepared to report to work within one hour of receiving notification.Perform various janitorial duties to ensure a safe and sanitary environment. Keep buildings and playground in clean and orderly condition.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Requires working knowledge and experience performing the various janitorial tasks associated with the care and cleaning of buildings is preferred.
• Requires working knowledge of understanding Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) is preferred.
• Requires in-depth knowledge and experience in securing buildings during non-business hours is preferred.
• Requires working knowledge of safe work habits and safety procedures.
• Requires sufficient reading and writing ability to read work instructions and document work activity onto standardized forms.
• Requires sufficient human relations skill to exercise courtesy when dealing with others.
• Requires the ability to show a work history that reflects a better than average attendance record.
• Requires the ability to maintain discretion and STRICT confidentiality with work-related information.
• Requires the ability to work alone and independently in performance of job duties.
• Requires the ability to communicate effectively and to understand and execute oral and written instructions.
• Requires the ability to establish and maintain congenial working relationships with other Tribal programs, outside business associates, and the public.
• Requires the ability to assure that safety, general cleaning, and infection control are observed at all times in adherence to the Federal head Start Policy Guidelines.
• Requires the ability to learn, understand and apply Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
• Requires the ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Requires the ability to work alone and independently in performance of job duties.

Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.

If required of this position, you must possess and maintain avalid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
