Job description

RWJMS Department of Medicine

Division of Rheumatology

Assistant or Associate Professor

The Division of Rheumatology in the Department of Medicine is seeking a BC/BE rheumatologist for a full-time appointment in a rapidly growing program within a multispecialty academic practice setting. Responsibilities include patient care on the inpatient consultative service, outpatient practice, on-call coverage, and teaching. Musculoskeletal Ultrasound expertise is desirable, and there may be opportunities for focused research. Excellent clinical and teaching skills are required, as instruction of medical students, residents, and fellows is a key component of our clinical program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. See new and follow-up patient visits, including consultations on the inpatient Rheumatology service.
  2. Manage patients in the outpatient Rheumatology faculty practice.
  3. Participate in inpatient service, with a typical assignment of twelve weeks, as determined by the Division Chief.
  4. Activities will comprise approximately 90% clinical FTE, including inpatient service at RWJUH and outpatient practice.
  5. Submit clinical charges and patient notes in a timely manner.
  6. Contribute 10% of time to scholarly activities, including teaching, research, quality improvement projects, and scientific presentations.
  7. Participate in education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows, and in all division activities.
  8. Serve on appropriate Department of Medicine and Medical School committees.
  9. Attend division and department meetings, grand rounds, and recruitment sessions.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Division Chief and Department Chairman.
  11. Demonstrate teamwork, openness, and a collaborative approach to build trust and strong relationships.
Requirements:
  • BE/BC in Rheumatology
  • NJ license or eligibility for licensure

The anticipated salary range is $240,000 to $250,000 per year. Compensation will depend on education, skills, and experience.
