Job description

RWJMS Department of Medicine
Division of Rheumatology
Assistant or Associate Professor

The Division of Rheumatology in the Department of Medicine is seeking a BC/BE rheumatologist for a full-time appointment in a rapidly growing program within a multispecialty academic practice setting. Responsibilities include patient care on the inpatient consultative service, outpatient practice, on-call coverage, and teaching. Expertise in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound is desirable, with potential opportunities for focused research. Excellent clinical and teaching skills are required, as instruction of medical students, residents, and fellows is an integral part of our clinical program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • See new and follow-up patient visits, including consultations on the inpatient Rheumatology service.
  • Manage patients in the outpatient Rheumatology faculty practice.
  • Participate in inpatient service, with a schedule of approximately twelve weeks, as determined by the Division Chief.
  • Activities will comprise 90% Clinical FTE, including inpatient service at RWJUH and outpatient practice.
  • Submit clinical charges and patient notes promptly.
  • Spend 10% of time on scholarly activities such as teaching, research, quality improvement, and scientific presentations/publications.
  • Contribute to education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as other division activities.
  • Participate in departmental and medical school committees.
  • Attend division and department meetings, including faculty meetings, Grand Rounds, and recruitment sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Division Chief or Department Chairman.
  • Demonstrate a team-oriented, collaborative approach that fosters trust and partnership.
Requirements:
  • BE/BC in Rheumatology
  • NJ medical license or eligibility for licensure

The anticipated salary range for this position is $240,000 to $250,000 per year. Compensation will depend on educational background, skills, and experience.
