Acequia Animal Hospital in Albuquerque, NM is seeking an experienced Full-Time Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills and hands-on surgical experience, ready to take an active role in our surgical and general practice caseload.

Responsibilities include nursing care for hospitalized and surgical patients, anesthesia induction, monitoring, dental procedures, lab work, client education, and meticulous medical records.

Qualifications

• Current RVT/LVT/CVT credential in good standing.
• Previous Veterinary Technician experience with strong surgical experience.
• Confident anesthesia monitoring and perioperative patient care skills.
• Strong understanding of surgical preparation, sterile technique, and patient recovery.
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating with veterinarians and staff.
• Excellent communication and client-service skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a busy clinical environment.
• Compassionate, dependable, and committed to high-quality patient care and a clean, organized work environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care for hospitalized and surgical patients.
• Prepare patients for surgery, including catheter placement, bloodwork, surgical prep, and anesthesia setup.
• Induce, monitor, and recover patients under anesthesia.
• Monitor surgical patients and communicate changes to the Veterinarian.
• Assist with surgical procedures and maintain sterile protocols.
• Perform dental cleanings and assist with dental procedures.
• Obtain and process laboratory samples and assist with diagnostic procedures.
• Administer medications and treatments as directed.
• Monitor and document patient progress throughout treatment and recovery.
• Educate clients on medications, post-operative care, and treatment plans.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure treatment areas and equipment are clean and properly maintained.
• Support the broader veterinary team with appointments, treatments, and patient care.
