Job summary

CityVet Career Center in Highlands Ranch, CO invites Registered Veterinary Technicians to join our supportive, pet-loving team. We welcome a Veterinary Assistant with 1 year of clinic experience and value compassion, teamwork, and dedicated patient care.

As an RVT, you’ll support veterinarians in medical, surgical, and dental procedures, help restrain animals safely, and contribute to client communication while maintaining high patient care and clinic productivity.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience.
• Holds valid State License as Certified Veterinary Technician.
• Willing to work weekends with our Urgent Care Team.

Responsibilities

• Assists Veterinarian in medical, surgical, and dental procedures; prepares clients for surgery; restrains animals as needed for examination and treatment.
• Supervise unlicensed staff with suturing, anesthesia induction, blood draws, and sample collection for lab tests.
• Under direct supervision of a Veterinarian, may suture surgical incisions, induce anesthesia, administer vaccines, extract loose teeth, and perform euthanasia for dogs and cats.

The Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) is responsible for maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by helping the Veterinarian leverage their time and efforts to meet the needs of their clients and patients. The Registered Veterinary Technician works to relieve the Veterinarian from technical work and administrative detail to achieve greater levels of efficiency in daily practice. Registered Veterinary Technicians help facilitate and streamline communication from the operating room to the front office staff and most importantly, the client.

Essential qualifications:

• At least 18 years of age at the time of hire
• At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience
• Holds valid State License as Certified Veterinary Technician
• Understanding and ability to properly, and safely, restrain animals
• Knowledgeable on veterinary medical terminology and medication
• Self Starter
• Available for weekend work with our Urgent Care Team

A day in the life:

• Assists the Veterinarian in medical, surgical, and dental surgeries, including preparing clients for surgery by assisting in the administering of anesthesia and properly restraining the animals as needed for examination and treatment.
• Supervise unlicensed team members completing the following tasks: suture to close existing skin incisions and skin lacerations, induce anesthesia, draw blood, and take samples for lab testing purposes.
• Under direct supervision of a Veterinarian, the Certified Veterinary Technician may: suture to close existing surgical skin incisions and skin lacerations, induce anesthesia, administer rabies vaccine, extract loose teeth or dental fragments in dogs and cats only and euthanasia.
