Job summary

CityVet in Chamblee, GA is looking for a Veterinary Technician to join our vet-led team. A Veterinary Technician Assistant will be considered with a minimum of 1-year experience. Compensation is based on experience and education.

The VT assists Veterinarians, prepares patients for surgery, restrains animals, collects and tests samples, and communicates with clients under the DVM's plan. A full-time, team-focused role with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 18 years of age at hire.
• At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience.
• Ability to properly and safely restrain animals.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology and medications.
• Lift 50 lbs to waist height; frequent standing, bending and walking.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Self-motivated and team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians by preparing patients for surgery and monitoring post-op.
• Obtain and process samples (stool, blood, etc.) for testing.
• Test samples and help interpret results.
• Administer prescribed medications, vaccines, or anesthesia as indicated.
• Communicate with clients about care plans and instructions.
• Support Client Service Specialist team as needed.

Responsibilities

The Veterinary Technician (VT) is responsible for maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by helping the Veterinarian leverage their time and efforts to meet the needs of their clients and patients. The Veterinary Technician works to relieve the Veterinarian from technical work and administrative detail to achieve greater levels of efficiency in daily practice. Veterinary Technicians help facilitate and streamline communication from the operating room to the front office staff and most importantly, the client.

Essential qualifications:

A day in the life:

• Assist Veterinarians - prep patients for surgery (administer anesthesia/take x-rays/gather lab specimen), monitor patients post-op & restrain animals during exams
• Obtain Samples - gather stool, blood, and other samples for testing
• Testing - test the samples gathered and help to interpret the results
• Administer Medications - give patients accurate dosage of prescribed medications, anesthesia, vaccines, or other medications indicated by the DVM
• Client Communication - obtain medical information from the clients and provide the client proper instruction on how to care for the animal under the veterinarian’s plan of care
• Assist the Client Service Specialist team when needed
