CityVet in Texas seeks a Veterinary Technician or Technician Assistant to join our vet-led clinics. Compensation is based on experience and education. A 1-year vet industry background is preferred, with a focus on compassionate care and client communication.

Essential duties include assisting Vets, restraining animals safely, and relaying medical information to clients. Full-time benefits and opportunities for growth are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age at hire.
• At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience.
• Ability to restrain animals safely.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology and medications.
• Lift 50 lbs to waist height.
• Frequent standing, bending, walking, lifting, carrying.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Self-motivated and team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians by preparing patients for surgery (administer anesthesia/take x-rays/gather lab specimens).
• Monitor patients post-op and restrain animals during exams.
• Obtain samples (stool, blood, and other samples) for testing.
• Test samples and help interpret results.
• Administer prescribed medications, anesthesia, vaccines, or other meds as directed.
• Provide clients with proper instruction on animal care under the veterinarian's plan.
• Assist the Client Service Specialist team when needed.

CityVet islooking for Veterinary Technicians to join our team! A Veterinary Technician Assistant will be considered (with a minimum of 1-year experience).

Responsibilities

The Veterinary Technician (VT) is responsible for maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by helping the Veterinarian leverage their time and efforts to meet the needs of their clients and patients. The Veterinary Technician works to relieve the Veterinarian from technical work and administrative detail to achieve greater levels of efficiency in daily practice. Veterinary Technicians help facilitate and streamline communication from the operating room to the front office staff and most importantly, the client.

A day in the life:

• Assist Veterinarians - prep patients for surgery (administer anesthesia/take x-rays/gather lab specimen), monitor patients post-op & restrain animals during exams
• Obtain Samples - gather stool, blood, and other samples for testing
• Testing - test the samples gathered and help to interpret the results
• Administer Medications - give patients accurate dosage of prescribed medications, anesthesia, vaccines, or other medications indicated by the DVM
• Client Communication - obtain medical information from the clients and provide the client proper instruction on how to care for the animal under the veterinarian’s plan of care
• Assist the Client Service Specialist team when needed
