Job summary

San Diego Humane Society is hiring Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) for our San Diego Medical team. Based at the San Diego Campus, this full-time RVT role supports veterinarians in diagnosing, treating, and managing animal patients, administering treatments and anesthesia preparation.

The position offers a competitive hourly pay range of $26.60–$29.61, with a $1,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates and a 4/10 alternative work schedule at the San Diego Campus.

Qualifications

• California Registered Veterinary Technician licensure required.
• Minimum of one year clinical and/or shelter experience in veterinary environment required.

Responsibilities

• Administer treatments and procedures & prepare and administer anesthetics.
• Assist staff veterinarians with exams, procedures and monitoring animals before, during and post-surgery.
• Perform emergency procedures within the scope of a licensed RVT as instructed by staff veterinarian.
• Support training of new RVTs, Vet Assistants, volunteers and interns.

Location & Hours:

Based at our San DiegoCampus. Full-time positions work a 4/10 Alternative Work Schedule.

Pay:

Pay: Starting range is between $26.60 – $29.61 per hour. RVTs at our Escondido and Oceanside campuses are paid a location premium for a minimum hourly rate of $29.26.

The listed hiring range for this position depicts the target range of pay rates for candidates. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. Compensation for internal candidates may increase beyond the listed range based on performance over time. For all candidates, the actual starting pay rate is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to your years of related education and experience, internal pay equity, and position location.
