Kraken is seeking engineers to design and implement Rust and C++ services powering trading, payments, and crypto experiences with a focus on reliability, performance, and security. The team builds distributed, low-latency systems and collaborates across global engineering groups.

You will work with Rust and C++ to develop scalable, high-performance backend components, participate in architecture discussions, and own end-to-end solutions in a dynamic crypto environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience building financial trading focused products.
• Proficient in writing network services or asynchronous code in Rust.
• Experience with modern C++, including performance-sensitive, low-latency systems.
• Have a security-first mindset during system design to ensure robustness.
• Demonstrate the ability to autonomously debug issues across the stack (OS, network, application).
• Understand distributed systems and technologies, including RPC protocols, Kafka, and Event-Driven Systems.
• Collaborate effectively with product teams to gather requirements and constraints for designing appropriate systems.
• Take complete end-to-end ownership of systems and libraries.

• Design and implement robust Rust and C++ services and libraries powering trading, payments, and crypto experiences with focus on reliability and performance.
• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code that scales across teams and supports revenue-critical systems.
• Collaborate on large-scale distributed systems architecture translating product requirements into low-latency solutions.
• Work with hundreds of Rust and C++ engineers in a high-performance, product-driven culture.
