Job summary

Parry Labs in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Rust software engineer to build and test distributed mission systems under senior guidance. You will develop defined components, investigate defects and learn systems programming through reviews and integration work.

The target start is November 2026. You will report to a software engineering manager, with technical direction from the Chief Engineer and collaborate with security engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or related field.
• Hands-on programming experience through coursework, internships, personal projects or employment.
• Working knowledge of Rust ownership, borrowing, basic types and error handling, plus Cargo build and test workflows.
• Familiarity with Linux development tools and Git version control.
• Ability to work from defined requirements and incorporate code-review feedback.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain/maintain a U.S. government security clearance if required.

Responsibilities

• Implement defined Rust components and fixes from agreed requirements with guidance from senior engineers.
• Write unit and integration tests for expected behavior, error handling and boundary conditions.
• Debug software issues using logs, tests and development tools; document steps to reproduce defects.
• Build simple interfaces, message handling and telemetry features using established team designs.
• Use Cargo, Git and automated checks to build, test and submit changes for review.
• Participate in code reviews and apply feedback on correctness, readability and memory safety.
• Support laboratory integration and test activities with software, systems and security engineers.
• Maintain setup instructions and component documentation; communicate progress and raise blockers early.
