RCAs must be available to work on an as-needed basis. DRIVING REQUIRED: Applicants must have a valid state driver’s license, a safe driving record, and at least two years of unsupervised driving experience in passenger cars or larger vehicles. Driving must have occurred in the U.S., its possessions or territories, or U.S. military installations worldwide. A personal vehicle suitable for use may be required for this position.

Postal Service employment depends on meeting medical, eligibility, and background check requirements. Offers are conditional upon meeting these criteria.

SALARY RANGE: $20.38 per hour, paid bi-weekly.

Functional Purpose

Delivers, collects mail along a rural route using a vehicle, and provides various customer services.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Sort mail in delivery sequence for the assigned route.
2. Receive and sign for accountable mail.
3. Load mail into vehicle.
4. Deliver mail to customers, collect monies and receipts, and pick up mail from roadside boxes.
5. Sell stamps, stamped paper, and money orders; accept C.O.D., registered, certified, and insured mail; provide postal information and forms.
6. Return undeliverable mail, submit monies and receipts.
7. Prepare mail for forwarding and maintain address change records.
8. Prepare daily trip reports and maintain customer lists.
9. Conduct surveys as required.
10. Maintain inventory of stamps and supplies.
11. Ensure mail security at all times.

Rural Carrier Associates are non-career employees providing mail delivery, collection, and retail services. Candidates may need a suitable vehicle and should live within easy commuting distance of the facility. The job is physically demanding, performed outdoors and indoors, in all weather conditions, with some lifting of parcels up to 70 pounds. Work is usually on Saturdays and as needed to cover absences.
