Job summary

Aurelius Systems in San Francisco is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design ruggedized, field-deployable fiber laser systems. You will lead structural work from architecture through bench validation and field correlation, ensuring survivability in harsh environments.

Ideal candidates bring 3–10+ years of mechanical experience, strong FEA skills, and hands-on testing with MIL-STD-810 or similar standards. This is a hands-on role in a startup defense tech environment with growth potential.

Qualifications

• 3–10+ years in mechanical engineering on ruggedized or field-deployable systems.
• Hands-on bench validation and instrumentation experience.
• Experience with MIL-STD-810 shock and vibration.
• Experience sealing and EMI/EMC gaskets and environmental protection.

Responsibilities

• Design structural ruggedization for MIL-STD shock, vibration, dust, and moisture.
• Develop ruggedization architecture for laser source and subsystems.
• Create sealing, IP protection, gasket and coating strategies.
• Perform FEA modeling and validate with bench tests and field data.
