Job summary

Kform is seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to translate customer requirements into robust, production-ready hardware. You will lead end-to-end design in SolidWorks, create detailed drawings, and drive manufacturability across packaging, weight and thermal constraints.

Collaboration with manufacturing, quality, and suppliers is essential in this fast-moving defense environment. You will prototype, test, and iterate on assemblies, fixtures, and test equipment while ensuring

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
• 3–5 years in mechanical design, product development or hardware.
• Strong CAD fundamentals, GD&T, tolerancing, and manufacturability.
• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD tools.
• Ability to produce production-quality drawings with full revision control.
• Hands-on with rapid prototyping, shop tools, and production hardware.
• Knowledge of electronics packaging, cabling, thermal management, and systems integration.
• Clear documentation habits and independent, collaborative work.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end mechanical design for complex products and rugged enclosures.
• Create models, drawings, and assemblies with production-grade details.
• Translate field conditions into manufacturable designs.
• Design within packaging, weight, thermal, shock, EMI, and cost constraints.
• Rapid prototyping: build, assemble, instrument, inspect, and troubleshoot.
• Plan and execute validation for fit, function, durability, and reliability.
• Maintain design documentation, revision history, and BOMs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and programs.
• Mentor junior engineers and own smaller projects from concept to release.
