Job summary

Citra Space Corporation in Colorado Springs, CO seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead ruggedized mechanical systems for space domain awareness sensors. You’ll own concepts through deployment, including enclosures, mounts, thermal management, and system integration.

Hands-on hardware focus, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and rapid iteration are key. Equity is included and a hybrid work arrangement is available for local candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of professional mechanical design experience.
• Strong proficiency with 3D CAD and engineering drawings.
• Experience with machining, sheet metal fabrication, or production processes.
• Comfort in fast-paced environments with hands-on ownership.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical designs from concept through deployment, including drawings and BOMs.
• Design rugged enclosures and structures for harsh environments.
• Develop precision antenna and telescope mounting systems.
• Create thermal-management solutions to maintain performance.
• Plan environmental testing and coordinate vendor fabrication.
• Collaborate with electrical, RF, optical, software, and systems engineers.
• Support prototype builds, system integration, and field deployment.
