CFD Research Corporation in Huntsville, AL (Dayton, OH option) seeks a Mechanical Engineer specializing in product development and mechanical design to drive the full lifecycle from concept to production.

You will lead mechanical design for rugged aerospace and military products, create and maintain drawings and documentation, and perform structural and thermal analyses using advanced simulation tools to deliver high‑quality, mission‑critical solutions.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Experience with FEA tools for structural or thermal analysis.
• Experience designing mechanical assemblies for electronics or rugged hardware.
• Familiarity with aerospace/military design requirements.
• U.S. citizen and able to obtain security clearance.

Responsabilités

• Lead mechanical product development and design across all phases from concept to production release.
• Model enclosures, structural parts, mechanisms, brackets, mounting hardware and electronics packaging.
• Perform stack‑up, GD&T, tolerance analysis for manufacturability.
• Conduct structural, shock, vibration, modal and thermal analyses per MIL STD 810.
• Create drawings, templates, BOMs and configuration controlled artifacts under AS9100.
• Apply DFM and DFA to enable efficient production.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams.
• Develop thermal management strategies and ruggedization efforts.
