Leggett & Platt in Morris, IL is seeking a production operator to monitor rubber mixing and milling processes. You will check batch consistency, adjust water valves, and maintain safe, clean work areas on the line.

This role involves assisting calender operators, preventing nonconforming product, and ensuring proper adhesion and timely delivery. Hourly pay ranges from $21.19 to $21.51, with annual increases and strong benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Checks consistency of dropped batches and alerts supervisor of any poorly mixed batches
  • Maintains a steady stream of rubber from the dump mill to the calender box
  • Adjusts water valves and nip gap on dump and strip mills to ensure proper rubber adhesion to front bowl
  • Keeps conveyor belts and belt rollers clear of any excess rubber
  • Retrieves tails from Line 2 calender and places them back onto strip mill
  • Has a working knowledge of the safety devices on the mills and calender
  • Assists the calender operator when needed
  • Keeps work area clean and free of safety hazards
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities related to product, process and the system
  • Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected
