Job summary

A-Gas is seeking a shift lead to oversee refurbishment and production for ½ ton and 1 ton cylinders, coordinating with the production supervisor and ensuring safety and quality in daily operations.

You will train and mentor team members, track throughput, downtime, and compliance with regulations while maintaining accurate production records and coordinating with maintenance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, sit, squat, and stand for long periods.
• Dependable attendance.
• Clear communication, reading and writing.
• Ability to meet KPIs and work overtime.
• Hazmat regulations familiarity preferred.
• Familiarity with material handling equipment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate refurbishment and production for ½ ton and 1 ton production requirements for customers and internal needs.
• Communicate operational issues, safety concerns, and personnel matters to the Supervisor.
• Serve as a technical expert and troubleshoot equipment or process issues; lead the shift.
• Provide on-the-job training and mentoring.
• Ensure all completed production is entered into the company database for throughput tracking.
• Assist with scheduling, inventory tracking and coordination with maintenance and other departments.
• Model safety, quality and operational excellence; manage overtime coverage.
• Maintain records and ensure procedures comply with local, state and federal regulations.
• Keep the work area clean and free of unneeded cylinders and equipment.
• Update Lean Boards tracking throughput, downtime, and root causes for continuous improvement.

RTC Department is responsible for refurbishing cylinders or containers to proper capacity and DOT Certification using standard operating procedures. The team lead is responsible for all activities in the RTC and Refriclaim departments, under the supervision of the production supervisor. The lead may stand in for the supervisor as required and leads other operators in how to carry out various tasks, assist in the monitoring of production performance to ensure that production targets are met, and ensures that all employees work in a Zero Harm work environment for all activities, leading by example.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the production supervisor the refurbishment and production for ½ ton and 1 ton production requirements for outside key customers and internal needs.
• Communicate operational issues, safety concerns, and personnel matters to the Supervisor.
• Serves as a technical expert and troubleshooting equipment or process issues and leads the shift or work area during daily operations.
• Provide on the job training and mentoring.
• Ensure all completed production is entered into the company database for accurate throughput tracking.
• Assists with scheduling, inventory tracking and coordination with maintenance and other departments.
• Serves as a role model for safety, quality and operational excellence.
• Works with management and team to coordinate overtime needs and coverage.
• Accurately maintains records and ensures that all required procedures are followed in order to comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Keep the work area clean and free of unneeded cylinders and equipment.
• Update Lean Boards as required, tracking throughput, downtime, and performing root causes to assist in driving continuous improvement.
• Other duties as assigned.

Experience, Knowledge, and Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED Required
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, sit, squat, and stand for long periods of time
• Dependable, solid attendance record
• Able to clearly communicate, read and write
• Ability to follow job instructions and be aware of job responsibilities
