Job summary

Gaylord Specialty Healthcare is seeking Full Time Respiratory Therapists to provide respiratory care and life support to patients under physician supervision. Responsibilities include ventilator care, airway maintenance, patient assessment, and inflight coordination with the care team.

The role requires AS degree, RRT certificate, CT RCP license, and BLS/ACLS certifications. Evening and night shifts may be available, with opportunities to mentor staff and partake in patient education.

Responsibilities

• Administers respiratory therapy care per physician prescription and under supervision of a physician or director.
• Performs airway care, secretion mobilization, and ventilator care as ordered.
• Conducts breathing assessments and evaluates patient condition for therapy needs.
• Interprets orders, analyzes arterial blood gases, and tailors treatment duration and medications.
• Assists in bronchoscopy and operates respiratory equipment and devices.
• Acts as Charge Therapist when assigned and participates in code team emergencies.

Responsibilities

Job Summary: The Respiratory Therapist administers respiratory therapy care and life support to patients by prescription and under the supervision of a physician and the Director of Respiratory Care or designee.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Provides ventilator care, secretion mobilization treatments, and other treatments as ordered by physician.
• Provides all aspects of airway care, maintenance and education.
• Performs breathing assessments and mechanics as needed for all purposes as ordered by physician.
• Interprets Orders - Draws and analyze arterial blood gases, and reviews patient information to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment such as type and duration of therapy, and medication and dosage.
• Participates in ambulation and mobility.
• Charts all pertinent information on patient's chart.
• Assists in bedside Bronchoscopy.
• Sets up and operates devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems and aerosol generators.
• May act in the role of Charge Therapist and carry out shift responsibilities as assigned.
• Assists in the orientation and training of students, new staff members, patients, families and care.
• Active member of code team – responds to emergencies and provides care, CPR, airway maintenance including intubation.
• Represents Respiratory Care as a member of the multidisciplinary patient care team.
• Evaluates patients upon admission & discharge.
