Job summary

UChicago Medicine is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for the Respiratory Care Services team at our Hyde Park campus in Chicago, IL. This full-time night shift position serves adult patients, with opportunities for students in the Respiratory Therapy program.

As an RRT, you will administer therapies, manage NIV and mechanical ventilation, perform ABG analyses, and document in EPIC while coordinating with physicians and leadership to ensure optimal cardiopulmonary care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Respiratory Care Program (at least two years).
• RRT certification and Illinois licensure required.
• BLS certification standard; additional NRP/PALS/ACLS preferred.
• Strong communication and documentation skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Administer oxygen and gas therapy per physician orders and protocols.
• Manage NIV and invasive ventilation with charting in EPIC.
• Perform ABG analysis and ensure quality control per guidelines.
• Provide airway care, bronchopulmonary hygiene, and suctioning as required.
• Transport patients with appropriate oxygen and ventilatory support.
• Document care accurately and promptly in the EMR.

Education

Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Illinois Licensure as Respiratory Care Practitioner

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) / PALS / ACLS preferred
