Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for PRN opportunities. This role supports the hospital's comprehensive respiratory care services within a Level II Trauma Center, offering opportunities for professional growth and mentorship.

You will perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, manage ventilation and airway care, and collaborate with physicians and nurses to deliver high-quality patient care in emergency, critical care, and acute settings.

Qualifications

• ACLS within 6 months of start date
• BCLS within 30 days of start date
• (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner
• (NBRC-RRT) Registered Respiratory Therapist or (NBRC-CRT) Certified Respiratory Therapist

Responsibilities

• Assessing respiratory status through focused exams, breath sounds, and airway patency; determine need for interventions.
• Delivering evidence-based therapy including oxygen, aerosols, airway clearance, and other treatments across care settings.
• Managing ventilation and airway care, including invasive/noninvasive ventilation and patient monitoring.
• Educating patients and families, acting as a resource to the care team, and assisting with stability during deliveries when needed.
• Maintaining equipment and safety, ensuring readiness and sanitation per infection-prevention standards.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Your role will include:

• Assessing respiratory statusby performing focused exams, interpreting breath sounds and airway patency, anddeterminingthe need for respiratory interventions.
• Deliveringevidence-based therapyby providing oxygen support, aerosolized medications, airway clearance techniques, and other treatments across emergency, critical care, and acute settings.
• Managing ventilation and airwaysbyassistingwith artificial airway placement,initiatingand adjusting invasive and noninvasive ventilation,monitoringpatientresponses, and responding quickly to clinical changes or emergencies.
• Supporting patients and the care teamby educating patients and families, serving as a clinical resource, partnering with physicians and nurses, and helping stabilize newborns during deliveries when needed.
• Maintainingequipment and safetyby setting up,operating, and cleaning respiratory equipment; ensuring readiness and preventive maintenance; transporting ventilated patients safely; and following all infection-prevention standards.

What qualifications you will need:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner
• (NBRC-RRT) Registered Respiratory Therapist, or (NBRC-CRT) Certified Respiratory Therapist
