Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Sleep Technologist for a full-time night shift (6:00pm–6:00am, Wed–Fri) at UAB St. Vincent's Chilton County. You will perform sleep studies, prepare patients/equipment, and interpret results under BRPT/ABSM guidelines.

Responsibilities include patient preparation, scoring and reporting results, and maintaining testing equipment. A valid BLS and BRPT/ABSM credential are required, with related education background as specified.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Currently registered as a Registered Polysomnographic Technician (RPSGT) with a BRPT certificate or Registered Sleep Technologist with ABSM required.

Job Description

Perform basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies.

• Prepare patient and equipment for ordered testing. Interview patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain testing procedures.
• Perform and document testing. Monitor patient throughout testing and intervene as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues.
• Collect, analyze and integrate patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs; score, interpret and report results of sleep studies.
• Prepare, calibrate, repair and maintain equipment required for testing. Determine and report needed repairs/replacements.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Currently registered as a Registered Polysomnographic Technician (RPSGT) with a certificate from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) or Registered Sleep Technologist with the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) required.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
