Job summary

Amentum seeks an experienced Rendezvous and Proximity Operations Oversight Software Engineer to support NASA ISS missions. You will oversee GN&C systems, perform safety and performance reviews, and work with a diverse team across engineering, safety, and flight operations.

Ideal candidates have GN&C knowledge, Linux, Python, and C/C++ experience, with strong communication and technical documentation abilities to ensure mission success and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 2–5 years of related experience.
• ABET accredited program with five years of related engineering experience or advanced degrees with corresponding years.
• Experience with GN&C, orbital mechanics, and spacecraft system analysis.
• Proficiency in Linux, Python, and C/C++.
• Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Certify GN&C system requirements compliance through reviews of analysis and test evidence.
• Certify fault tolerance safety requirements through hazard reports and verification data.
• Identify solutions to GN&C/RPO performance issues and advise program management.
• Review Monte Carlo trajectory analyses and spacecraft GN&C data for compliance.
• Provide console support and contribute to flight rules and on-orbit plans.
• Collaborate with NASA civil servants and contractor staff to deliver results.
