Job summary

Arcfield is seeking aSenior Guidance, Navigation & Control (GN&C) Engineer to own the relative-navigation, guidance, and control architecture for autonomous rendezvous and docking with a cooperative target. You will lead verification/validation strategy and serve as GN&C authority in design reviews.

You will work primarily in Python and C++; knowledge of orbit/attitude dynamics and estimation theory is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering or computational field.
• 16+ years (MS), 12+ years (PhD) of professional space software experience.
• Strong knowledge of orbit/attitude dynamics and relative orbital mechanics.
• Experience with Kalman filtering and estimation applied to GN&C.
• Hands-on algorithm development in C++ and Python.
• Proficiency with Git and modern software practices.
• US Person and ability to obtain Top-Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve GN&C algorithm architecture for autonomous Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO).
• Lead GN&C verification and validation strategy (6-DOF simulations, PIL/HIL).
• Interface with flight software and embedded environments; support design reviews.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to system-level reviews.
• Contribute to mission planning, orbit propagation, and data analysis.
