Job summary

Vaco is seeking an RPG Programmer to join our client in downtown Cincinnati, OH. The role focuses on developing, maintaining, and modernizing RPG applications on the IBM i (AS/400) platform.

You will work with RPG III/IV, ILE RPG, and Free-Form RPG, and may maintain ASNA Visual RPG apps. Strong troubleshooting and communication skills are required, with on-site work and collaboration across technical and business teams.

Qualifications

• Professional experience developing RPG applications on the IBM i (AS/400) platform.
• Experience with RPG IV, ILE RPG, CL, and DB2 for i.
• Experience maintaining/enhancing existing RPG applications.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analytical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with technical and business teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance RPG applications on the IBM i platform.
• Work with RPG III, RPG IV, ILE RPG, and Free-Form RPG.
• Maintain applications developed with ASNA Visual RPG.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
• Support modernization, system integration, and performance improvements.
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, and business teams.
• Maintain technical documentation and standards.
• Participate in scheduled production and on-call support.
