Gilder Search Group is recruiting a Royalty Associate Manager for a well‑established entertainment label finance team in New York. This is a newly created role driven by growth, focusing on the financial analysis behind artist royalties, including complex joint venture profit share arrangements, forecasting and process improvement.

The position reports to the VP of Label Finance and is not a traditional royalty accounting post.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and validating monthly royalty statements, performing reasonableness reviews, preparing payment support and coordinating with third party royalty processors.
• Quarterly you will work on more complex profit share statements, analyzing joint venture calculations, reviewing recoupable costs including marketing and recording spend, interpreting contract terms and approving costs before statements are released.
• Support legacy artist reporting and help automate what is currently a manual process.
• Build forecasting models, improve cash forecasting, support royalty accruals, develop reporting and take ownership of third party processor relationships.

Royalty Associate Manager

$110,000 base plus bonus

A well-established entertainment business is hiring a Royalty Associate Manager into its label finance team. This is a newly created role driven by growth, reporting directly into the VP of Label Finance.

This is not a traditional royalty accounting position. Most roles in this space are administrative or transactional. This one owns the financial analysis behind artist royalties, including complex joint venture profit share arrangements, forecasting and process improvement. The function is being modernized rather than maintained, so there is real scope to build something.

What you will be doing

Reviewing and validating monthly royalty statements, performing reasonableness reviews, preparing payment support and coordinating with third party royalty processors. Quarterly you will work on the more complex profit share statements, analyzing joint venture calculations, reviewing recoupable costs including marketing and recording spend, interpreting contract terms and approving costs before statements are released. You will also support legacy artist reporting and help automate what is currently a manual process.

Alongside the recurring work there is a real project agenda: building forecasting models, improving cash forecasting, supporting royalty accruals, developing reporting and taking ownership of third party processor relationships.

What we are looking for

Whether you are currently a staff accountant, senior accountant or sitting at manager level, what matters most is real experience with artist profit share or joint venture arrangements. You need to understand revenue allocations, recoupment, marketing and recording cost treatment and how contract terms drive the calculation. This is not admin processing, it is financial analysis and contract interpretation.

You will also need hands on royalty accounting experience where you reviewed and validated the numbers rather than simply coded them. And just as important is how you operate. This person works across finance, partners with AP, deals with internal stakeholders and over time speaks directly with artist management. You need to be a confident communicator who picks up the phone to solve a problem rather than sits behind a spreadsheet.
