Job summary

Gordon Food Service is seeking a Strategic Routing Lead to drive network-wide route optimization using data analytics. You will evaluate historical and real-time data to develop master routing schedules, aiming to maximize truck utilization, reduce miles, and cut fuel/maintenance costs.

The role requires 8+ years in routing/logistics, with strong Excel skills and familiarity with Descartes routing tools. Hybrid work with some on-site distribution center visits is noted.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics or Transportation required.
• 8+ years of progressive routing/transportation experience, with food distribution and customer interaction expertise.
• Proven logistics expertise in planning, routing, or dispatching.
• Strong analytical mindset to interpret large datasets and drive cost savings (fuel, maintenance).
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills to work with operations and sales teams.
• Leadership capabilities and a desire to mentor/lead a team.
• Ability to align with corporate KPIs to deliver ROI across the network.
• Experience guiding digital transformation and adapting routing strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead network-wide strategic routing optimizations on a monthly cycle.
• Analyze historical and real-time delivery data to develop master routing schedules.
• Gather, clean, and align routing data; run multiple scenarios to optimize plans.
• Collaborate with field operations and sales to iterate routing scenarios.
• Create standardized SOPs for routing and socialize with management.
• Standardize routing documentation to ensure consistent transitions for local ops.
• Provide optimized templates for daily/tactical routing software for dispatchers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
