Job summary

US FOODS Transportation is seeking a Route Planner to schedule and optimize delivery routes. You will use RoadNet and Mainframe to build cost-efficient routes that meet customer demands and align with sales and warehouse priorities.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma and at least 4 years in a related environment, with strong data-entry and reporting skills. The role requires English proficiency and willingness to work Sundays through Thursdays, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• A minimum of 4 years in related environment.
• Will train in US Foods Systems.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English for job and safety regulations.
• Must have computer skills – data entry, general report generation, spreadsheet design, data manipulation, mainframe downloads.
• Able to resolve non-routine issues with some independence; must work scheduled hours and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and sequence routes using RoadNet and Mainframe.
• Balance loads per trailer by size and weight of product and pallets.
• Build cost-effective routes while maintaining customer needs.
• Collaborate with Sales and Warehouse to determine delivery feasibility.
• Prepare daily reports such as route changes, sequence changes, and new customer requests.
• Maintain routing software system parameters (RoadNet and Mainframe).

Main Ingredients of the Job!

As a US FOODS® Transportation Route Planner, you will be responsible for scheduling and sequencing routes in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner using computerized programs (RoadNet and Mainframe). These routes will be built cost-effective and will match maintaining customer needs. Utilizing specified software, route trucks by matching customer orders to appropriate loads assigned to trucks.

Utilizing specified software, balance loads per trailer by size and weight of product and pallets to be loaded. Build cost-effective routes while maintaining customer needs. Work closely with Sales and Warehouse Departments to determine delivery feasibility. Prepare various reports on a daily basis, i.e. route changes request, sequence change requests, new customer request, etc. Maintains routing software system parameters (RoadNet and Mainframe).

Great Transportation Router Planners are crucial to the US FOODS® team and one of the important faces of our organization. Our Router strives for integrity and reliability while building trust by working directly with Sales and Warehouse Departments to determine delivery practicality.

Education/Training:

• High School Diploma/ required

Related Experience/Requirements:

• A minimum of 4 years in related environment
• Will train in US Foods Systems

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations.
• Must have computer skills – data entry, general report generation, spreadsheet design, data manipulation, mainframe downloads. Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide).
• Possess ability to resolve a variety of issues of fairly non-routine nature with some independence. Ability to work scheduled hours and any required overtime.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected compensation for this role is between $17.38 per hour and $28.83 per hour
