Job summary

Performance Food Group is seeking a Router to join our Performance Foodservice operations in Vermont. This individual contributor role creates and manages delivery routes, computes delivery times, and adjusts plans for drivers and customers.

The Router reports to the Transportation Manager and typically works Sunday through Thursday. You will use Roadnet and other routing systems, maintain route data, produce driver manifests, and provide regular KPI reporting.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience.
  • 1-3 years distribution, logistics, transportation or related work experience.
  • Basic/Intermediate computer skills including MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Establish delivery routes which are cost effective and compliant with Federal DOT guidelines while maintaining customer service and satisfaction.
  • Establish routing procedures and schedules optimizing personnel and equipment with a focus on driver safety.
  • Maintain Roadnet routing data daily including standard routes, time windows, and driver assignments.
  • Provide costing, off-days, maintenance, scorecard, KPI reporting on schedule.
  • Recap previous days routing results and adjust standard routes as needed.
  • Create maps and printing driving instructions for drivers unfamiliar with routes.
  • Produce and distribute nightly driver manifests.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

The Router position is an individual contributor role responsible for creating routes, managing routes, calculating delivery routes, times of deliveries and makes the necessary adjustments for drivers and customers. The Router role reports to the Transportation Manager or Routing Supervisor and normally works a Sunday through Thursday shift. The Router role works with numerous routing and software systems. The Router role requires strong attention to detail and process skills. The Router may interact with drivers, sales, transportation, warehouse and customer service personnel at management discretion. The Router functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duties assigned to best serve the company.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Establish delivery routes which are cost effective and compliant with Federal DOT guidelines while still maintaining an acceptable level of customer service, quality and satisfaction. Utilize Roadnet application to ensure Delivery costs are held to company expected run rates year over year.
  • Establish routing procedures and schedules which allow for the optimum use of personnel and equipment while keeping a strong emphasis on driver safety.
  • Perform Roadnet application routing maintenance daily to ensure all locations have accurate, timely, and up-to-date information: Standard Routes and Customer Delivery Requirements, Geo-Coding, delivery days, time windows, service time types, service time overrides, account types, meal beaks, Route start times, pre/post trips, starting/ending depot, travel modes, color for mapping, assigned driver, equipment and DOT road checks, Plan Maintenance equipment with regards to costing, restrictions and capacities.
  • Perform and provide costing, off-days, maintenance, scorecard, customer and KPI reporting on scheduled intervals.
  • Perform recap of previous days actual routing results; make necessary changes/adjustments to the standard routes, if required.
  • Make maps and print driving instructions for drivers that are not familiar with the route assigned.
  • Produce driver manifest report and distribute nightly.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 1:30pm - 10:00pm
