The Route Sales Support Driver builds solid, positive relationships with customers and aims to exceed their expectations. Operating in a competitive environment, successful RSSs balance exceptional customer service with meeting sales growth goals, generating goodwill and loyalty while maintaining professionalism at all times.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Safely operate a company step van within designated areas to deliver products and provide service to clients.
- Verify vehicle maintenance and maintain proper documentation.
- Manage daily route independently to ensure accurate and timely deliveries.
- Load/unload products according to policies and procedures.
- Review invoices for accuracy and correct errors as needed.
- Meet sales goals and promote route growth to enhance profitability.
- Develop leads and prospects, solicit new business, and assist in acquiring new accounts.
- Understand and communicate services, policies, and pricing effectively to customers.
- Monitor customer feedback and resolve issues promptly and courteously.
- Prioritize safety for oneself and others, using proper tools and adhering to safety policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the role.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Minimum 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record.
- Experience in customer service with diverse customer interactions.
- Strong math and basic computer skills.
- Experience in selling services/products and generating new business preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
Working Environment/Safety Requirements
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
- Fast-paced environment with irregular and long hours.
- Physical ability to lift and maneuver at least 25 lbs regularly and 50+ lbs occasionally, including bending, squatting, climbing, and reaching.
Experience, Travel, Education, and Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Entry-level position.
