Position Overview: Route Mechanic Helper

Are you someone who loves solving problems, working with your hands, and learning on the job? As a Route Mechanic Helper, you’ll partner with a skilled route mechanic to perform preventive and corrective maintenance across a diverse range of commercial properties in New Jersey. You’ll ride in a company van, gain real-world experience across multiple trades, and build a strong foundation in mobile facilities engineering.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assist in maintaining and repairing building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and more
• Support day-to-day operations and maintenance across various property types—from small suites to multi-story offices
• Monitor and troubleshoot systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing (under supervision)
• Help ensure buildings stay operational, safe, and looking great
• Respond to client needs and emergencies with urgency and professionalism
• Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours or weekend needs
• Follow all safety protocols and regulations

What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years of experience in building trades or HVAC
• Passion for learning and growing your career in the trades
• Strong work ethic, communication skills, and attention to detail
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and work in various conditions (climbing, standing, crawling, etc.)
• Willingness to travel across New Jersey daily (company van provided)

Preferred Education & Certifications

• Associate degree or completion of trade/technical school (preferred but not required)
• Entry-level experience or certification in 3 or more of the following is a plus:
  • Electrical, HVAC, Mechanical Systems
  • Refrigeration, Process Controls
  • Painting, Plumbing, Carpentry
