Job summary

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Production Assistant (Truck Driver) to complete driving routes for pickups and drop-offs of donations at the warehouse, donation boxes, and donor homes.

You will be responsible for safe vehicle operation, daily inspections, proper loading and unloading, route planning, and maintaining records. You will also assist Thrift Store personnel and supervise a Truck Helper, serving as a professional representative of The Salvation Army.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate effectively.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable DMV record; pass driving test.
• Must be able to lift 100 lbs.
• Must read maps and plan daily route coverage.
• Must use iPad with GPS, texting and truck inspection report.
• Must have excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Medical card may be required depending on city/state; DOT physical may be required.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the security and safe operation of the vehicle and other assigned equipment.
• Perform daily walk around inspection of vehicle and report problems.
• Ensure truck cab and box are clean and personal items are removed daily.
• Plan daily routing based on pickups assigned and make all calls scheduled.
• Responsible for developing assigned route and load management.
• Represent The Salvation Army in a professional manner.
• Ensure courteous treatment of customers and proper handling of donations.
• Maintain complete records such as manifests and trip logs.
• Load and unload items; secure goods to avoid damage and maximize space.
• Provide assistance to Thrift Store personnel with item placement.
• Instruct and supervise Truck Helper; model good habits.
• Support work therapy program via professional conduct and supervision.
