Job summary

Shown Media LLC is seeking a Rough Cut Editor (Freelance) to join a remote, worldwide project-based workflow. The role focuses on syncing audio/video, color correction, and delivering clean rough assemblies ready for the final edit.

You will work closely with a team to ensure fast turnaround and consistent export specs. Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of experience editing rough cuts from multi-cam shoots, strong skills in Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, and a keen eye for organization.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience cutting rough assemblies from multi-cam or multi-day shoots.
• Fluency with non-linear editors and tight turnaround times.

Responsibilities

• Sync audio and video to prepare quick rough cuts for review.
• Flag strongest takes and trim dead space for clean handoffs.
• Ensure consistent export specs (resolution, frame rate, naming).
• Identify and communicate potential issues (audio dropouts, focus problems) early.

Remote, Worldwide · Freelance, project-based · Rate: $75-$200 per project

Shown Media runs viral video launches for billion-dollar companies that generate hundreds of millions of views, zero paid distribution.

The Role

Sync audio and video, color correct and grade, and cut raw footage into a clean rough assembly. Every day of shooting, synced and organized, ready to hand off for the final edit.

What You'll Own

• Basic audio cleanup (noise reduction, leveling) so the next editor isn't fighting bad audio.


• Flag the strongest takes. The next editor shouldn't have to rewatch everything from scratch.


• Trim dead space and unusable footage, false starts and bad takes included. What you hand off is a genuine rough cut, not synced raw footage.


• Consistent export specs: resolution, frame rate, file naming. No technical hiccups at handoff.


• Catch technical issues early like audio dropouts, focus problems, missing coverage, and flag them back to us before they land on the next editor.

You're making sure the footage is clean, organized, and cut into a coherent sequence for the next editor.

What We're Looking For

• At least 2 years of experience cutting rough assemblies from multi-cam or multi-day shoots.


• Fluency in Premiere / DaVinci Resolve


• You're fast. Turnaround on this is tight and non-negotiable.


• You organize by instinct. Bins, naming conventions, and markers are second nature, not an afterthought.


• You catch problems before anyone downstream does.
