Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT) seeks a Rotordynamics Development and Testing Engineer in Oak Ridge, TN to lead process innovations for gas centrifuge manufacturing and testing. You will apply rotordynamics, DSP, and software skills to improve design robustness and production efficiency.

The role requires hands-on experimental work, model-based simulations, and clear communication of results. DOE clearance and U.S.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering with 6 years of relevant experience, or MS with 3 years, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
• Expertise in rotordynamics and problem-solving techniques.
• Experience with dynamic testing of high-speed systems.
• Proficiency in DSP methods and software development (Python, C++, MATLAB).
• FEA knowledge with ANSYS is preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain a DOE DOE clearance and be a U.S. citizen.

Responsibilities

• Serve as resident expert on rotordynamics and optimize centrifuge manufacturing and design processes.
• Conduct experimental investigations and model-based simulations to resolve rotordynamics challenges.
• Design and oversee advanced test systems with data acquisition and high-speed signal analysis.
• Lead dynamic testing initiatives including balancing and experimental modal analysis.
• Execute complex engineering projects and communicate results to stakeholders.
• Prepare and present engineering reports detailing protocols, results and recommendations.
